The UNN PROs Conference, organized by the Public Relations Officers Council in collaboration with the office of the SUG Director of Information, UNN, Comr. Edward Emmanuel Chukwuebuka, University of Nigeria, was held at the New Agric Lecture Theatre on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
The event brought together over 200 participants, comprising all Public Relations Officers (PROs) from various classes, departments, and faculties, as well as representatives from UNN TVs, media blogs, and all other information platforms associated with the university and across Nigeria, to explore the subject “Addressing the Issue of Unverified Information in the University Community.”
The event was graced with the attendance of the most notable dignitaries within and beyond the university community.
Here are the agenda items that were highlighted:
- Exploring Sources of Unverified Information: A detailed discussion on identifying and managing sources of unverified information.
- Orientation on Media and Information Literacy: A comprehensive orientation aimed at enhancing media and information literacy among participants.
- Licensing of Affiliated Media: Procedures and requirements for the licensing of all affiliated UNN TVs and media houses.
- Defining Roles in Information Channels: Clarification of the roles and responsibilities in maintaining official information channels within the university.
- Any Other Business (AOB): additional topics and issues will be addressed as needed.
The conference was quite an impactful and exciting experience for everyone that was present.
